Welcome to the home of Alex Bunting, a Web Developer and Programmer based in Edinburgh City.
This site is designed as both a portfolio of my work and a professional web design advertisement. If you are looking for examples of my work please do not look at this site but rather the examples I have listed below. For a more detailed list of my skills please click here.
I create websites free of charge for any registered charity (within exception, im not creating the 8th wonder of the world on the internet for no fee! :)) and have very cheap prices for individuals and small businesses. To this end I do not offer strict timeframes on websites nor massive amounts of technical support (although my sites are built to be as maintenance free as possible!). For more information please dont hesitate to contact me at this address.
All my websites comply to the latest standards and are checked for cross-browser support with all major browsers.
The examples below are all the websites I consider complete, I currently have several works in progress.
The Opera Shorts company was set up in 2008 by a group of students at the University of Edinburgh. The idea of the company was to try and bring opera into the 21st century a bit by making lots of short operas rather than 1 big long one.
The website I created was designed to reflect this. Technologically there isnt a great deal going on with this site, though the news page can be added to any time without going into the HTML and can be easily extended into RSS feeds for greater user interaction.
Please note the maintenance of this site falls to the owner Luke Drummond and so any standards not met are on his shoulders!
This website is an entirely non finished site in terms of content. This is intentional of course! I initially built it to be a template for the Balkans website whilst I was awaiting more information from the commissioner but was having so much fun with it that I decided to keep it as it was.
Technically its a very nice site. It incorporates a widget in the top left hand corner to increase the size of the font so as to accomodate people with reading difficulties, something I have adopted into this site. It also demonstrates how a youtube video can very easily be incorporated into a website.
Another big part of this website was the photo album which was created especially. It uses no flash, nor does it preload all the images. The thumbnails are generated on the fly to minimise bandwidth to the user and maximise the server potential. All of this combined means a very clean and simple photo album, which is as easy to add photos to as simply uploading them into the correct folder.
All the images [not in the gallery] were created by photoshopping other images to create collages more appropriate to the site design (such as the title).
This website was created by myself for a campaign I was running to stop the Edinburgh University Student Union from tearing out a fantastic bar to put in a new (less cosy) bar downstairs - a trendy bar. Unfortunatele we lost the campaign but the website still lives on.
In terms of the website technically this is a very simple site, with easy navigation and an inline frame meaning the full design is always on screen.
